This is it. The end, and frankly, I’m kind of happy about that. I’ve reflected on a lot of different stuff when it comes to gaming, and now I can cap it off with my favorite moment.
For me, coming back to the gaming table was a great experience. The actual night I was at the table for the first time in like, I don’t know, maybe 10 years, was a bit weird. I had no idea what I was doing. I had to re-learn the game from the ground up. I was playing with people I didn’t know at all.
Yet, I was back where I wanted to be. I love gaming. I had somehow forgotten that very important fact.
Prior to that night, the last game a I remember playing was a d20 homebrew of D&D 2e. Then nothing for a looong time. Then D&D Essentials while 4th Edition was going on in a sort of zombie like capacity. I remember thinking how great it was that D&D finally had a stripped down version of its modern equivalent.
I remember being happy to throw dice again. I’m still happy to do it, but I owe that playing again. Now, among other things, I’m committed to helping other people play games. Why not share the love?
So that’s where I am now. Rehashing 30 days of thoughts and reflections on D&D. Is D&D my favorite game? No. Will it always have a special place in my heart? Yes. Hopefully, if you’re reading this, you’ve enjoyed it as well.
